Earlier this year when Kansas City won the Super Bowl, a half-million fans gathered in the snow to welcome them home. The team received a well-deserved hero’s welcome with people lining the streets in their red and gold, waving their flags, and cheering the heroes. Some even going as far as to climb up signposts and streetlights in celebration of a game well played! For centuries we have had parades as a way to show appreciation. It was no different in Jesus’ day. That is what Palm Sunday is all about. On Sunday we will gather our children and remember Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem.
