Back to Basics: Hope

Series:
Passage: Romans 15:13
Service Type:

Bible Text: Romans 15:13 | Speaker: Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes | Series: Back to Basics | The American Psychological Association reports that nearly 1 in 4 Americans feel ‘extreme stress’ during the holiday season. Among the more common reasons, they stated lack of time, lack of money, or the pressure of giving gifts. I wonder what those involved in the first Christmas might say to these extreme stresses?  This advent we will seek to get back to the basics in celebrating the season that brings the reminder of the love that came into the world some 2000 years ago.  We will get back to the basics by exploring the prophet’s message of hope, the peace of creation, the joy of the shepherds, and the love in a manger.  On Christmas Eve, we will look for and celebrate the light that overcomes the darkness.
