Gonna Sit Down and Write A Letter

Passage: 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 New International Version (NIV)
Service Type:

Bible Text: 2 Corinthians 3:1-3 New International Version (NIV) | Speaker: Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes

Letter writing is a lost art. With email we are now communicating quickly with expedience like never before in history! But with that expedience also comes a loss as well. Email is very convenient but it can’t deliver the little dab of perfume added to a carefully written love letter. Email can’t capture the true exclamation mark – that can only happen with a pen pressed so firmly on the paper it leaves a mark or even a hole!

History is full of amazing letters that still capture our attention.
A trip to the Lincoln museum would not be complete without pausing to read his letters. There is something powerful as we consider Martin Luther King writing letters from a Birmingham jail.

On Sunday we will explore the power of a letter and consider that we ourselves are a letter from God written not with ink but with the Spirit. Remember God doesn’t always write on tablets but on human hearts.
