Inspired By Living
We are using Rachel Held Evan’s book and study called “Inspired” to help guide us through the Lenten journey this year. Rachel, like so many of us, grew up with a particular understanding of the Bible that allowed faithful readers to use the Bible as a tool to condemnation and justify harmful behavior like racism and bigotry. Yet as she grew, she came to realize the Bible, though divinely inspired, is a human document and needs to be interpreted and reinterpreted throughout time. The Bible can only function as the living word of God if the stories and the problems that come with those stories are hashed out in a modern context. During Lent, we are going to look at different bible stories with new eyes and 21st-century interpretation and together seek to be Inspired hearing the story yet again!
This week we will look at the shortest passage in the Bible and Jesus bringing his friend Lazarus back to life.
