“Out of Sight, Out of Mind”

Passage: 2 Chronicles 16:9 (The Message)
Service Type:
There are stories in the bible of leaders who wanted to appear as though they had it all. They prayed in front of others, gave their offerings boldly, and put themselves in a position where they were both judge and jury of neighbors and friends. They lived their lives keeping up appearances. Jesus challenged these folks on this behavior; suggesting it might be better for them to be more concerned about their relationship with God instead of society.  He encouraged them to go into their closet and pray, give in secret, and let God do the judging.  As much as we don’t like to identify with these guys, the truth is we do the same.  Many of us do our yard work and have immaculate lawns; the exteriors of our homes look like we have it all together.   But if you make it inside the house, you find a mess.  Some of us work out day after day and look good on the outside, but on the inside, we are falling apart. Join us Sunday as we look at “Out of Sight, Out of Mind.”
