The Soul of Christmas: Peace & Harmony
Bible Text: Isaiah 9:6, Luke 2:14, John 14:27 | Speaker: Rev. Dr. Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes | Series: The Soul of Christmas | In his book “The Soul of Christmas,” author Thomas Moore reminds us that the true power of the Christmas story is found beyond religion. Christmas is a season where we are introduced to a baby who grows into the visionary leader whose primary role in this world was to teach and heal. A man who brought people together, made circles bigger, and included everyone. Now more than ever, this world needs to be reminded that there is so much to learn in the Christmas story, no matter your religious tradition.
This year, The Garden will seek to get to the soul of Christmas, celebrating the universal truth that comes in hope and anticipation, peace and harmony, joy, and love.
We often hear people talk about getting into the Christmas spirit. The context of that is often something we have to do: decorating the house, buying the gifts, and going to parties. Through these activities we find a way to make it through Advent to Christmas morning. Yet in the midst of the busyness we are called to be attentive and present as we wait for a new beginning, a new life.
On Sunday, we will explore how we can share in the season with hope and anticipation being attentive to those elements of the season that often get overlooked. Join us Sunday as we celebrate The Soul of Christmas – Peace & Harmony.
