ONGOING ENGAGEMENT OPPORTUNITIES
TOGETHER IN 111
Everyone is invited to join in a time of learning and conversation after Sunday services. Usually, the content will be a deeper dive into Carolyn’s message. Sometimes special guests will share their wisdom or expertise. There might be video clips, book studies, presentations, and workshops. Each session presents an opportunity to get to know The Garden community and share ideas.
FAITH IN ACTION
Interested in matters impacting our world from gun violence to hunger? The Garden's Faith in Action team invites you to engage with us. As the team's name indicates, it seeks to put our faith, values, and beliefs into action to help make the world a better, more just place for all.
We engage in activities such as letter writing, marching to increase awareness of injustices, and participating in social justice actions.
COMFORT & CARE
Our Comfort & Care Team volunteers assist Garden community members who are in need through emotional support, bereavement support, hospital visitation, etc. as needed. (Lead: Carolyn Scanlan-Holmes, Lead Pastor)
OUTREACH
The Garden's Outreach team volunteers coordinate opportunities for helping others such as Little and Big Gives, volunteer service projects, and collecting donated items. The team meets once a month and volunteers choose how they would like to serve.
THE GARDEN'S GARDEN
Each spring, volunteers plant and tend a vegetable garden to grow food for donation to a local food pantry. Learn more here.
ART GALLERY
Members of the Garden and Union Chapel communities are invited to enjoy an art exhibit in the hallway between the Union Chapel/Garden offices and Union Chapel sanctuary. The exhibit changes monthly and features artists from a wide variety of modalities – photography, acrylics, prints, fabric, watercolors, etc. Suggestions of local artists to feature are welcome.
THE GARDEN GIVES GRANT
For each quarter of the year, The Garden chooses a non-profit organization to support with a grant. These awards provide financial and volunteer support for the chosen organization to enhance the good it does in the community. Applications received after July of the current year will be considered for the following year. Get more information about the grant here.
