When you register The Garden as your chosen charity with Kroger, they will make a small donation every time you shop. Though donations from this program are small, they cost you nothing and add up.
If you are a retiree want to support The Garden, you might be interested in making a charitable donation from your IRA. This is a way of giving to the church without paying income tax on the distribution. You can donate up to $100,000 per year from your IRA directly to the church and reduce your taxable income.
To make a charitable donation from your IRA to The Garden, you must be at least 70 1/2 years old at the time of the donation. You must instruct your IRA trustee to transfer the money directly from your IRA to the church, not to you or any other intermediary. The Garden will provide you with a written acknowledgment stating the amount and date of the donation.

The Garden can receive gifts of stock shares through the service of a company called Stifel, which provides The Garden with the high/low cost on the date of transfer. Those amounts are averaged together and that cost is applied per share to the individual’s giving record for the year. Stifel then sells the stock and writes a check for the proceeds to The Garden. Upon receipt of the donation, The Garden will add the donation to the individual’s contribution record, to be a part of the end-of-year giving statement.
WHAT TO DO:
1. Work with your stock broker to determine what and how much you want to transfer.
2. Ensure with your broker that your information as donor is provided at the receiving end.
3. Give this information to your transferring agent:
a. Stifel Nicolaus - DTC#0793
b. The account name: The Garden Community Church
c. The account number: 4229-2012
4. You will receive confirmation from The Garden office with the information from the sale, including the amount that will be added to your giving statement for the year.
