The Never-Ending Story

All Saints' Day Celebration 2022

A couple of weeks ago, we welcomed Montez Day as our guest on Sunday morning. He shared his inspiring life story with us, and we were reminded you can’t help but love someone once you have heard their story. In the lead up to our All Saints' Day service on November 6, we consider that even after we die, our story lives on through the love we have shared.

In observance of All Saints' Day, let's pause and remember those who have gone before us. It can be a confusing day with sadness and celebration intertwined. Certainly, sadness comes with our grappling with loss. We need space to grieve. Yet, the overall experience may also be infused with joy and hope as we remember that life isn’t over but beginning again. This Sunday, November 6, we celebrate the cloud of witnesses and turn out attention toward belonging together in communion and community.

By Betty Brandt March 12, 2025
A poignant blog post by Betty Brandt reflecting on a poem her father, James M. Buck, wrote to her in 1944 while stationed at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, during World War II. Betty shares her father’s love for poetry, his role as a unit scribe in Patton’s Army, and the heartfelt stories of camaraderie and survival among his fellow soldiers. Interweaving themes of love, storytelling, and faith, this post encourages readers to cherish and share their own family stories, creating connections filled with healing and sacred moments.
