Joy on a Starry, Starry Night
The Third Sunday of Advent
Stars have always held a special place in our human experience. They are symbols of wonder, beauty, and guidance. People have looked to the stars for navigation and inspiration for centuries. In the context of the Christmas story, the star that guided the Magi to Bethlehem symbolizes the joy and love in the birth of Jesus.
Joy is an interesting emotion. We often confuse it with happiness, which can be fleeting and dependent on our circumstances. Joy, however, is deeper. To me, it is a profound sense of contentment and peace that springs from knowing we are loved and cared for by God.
In the hustle and bustle of our lives, especially during the holiday season, it can be easy to lose sight of this joy. We become consumed by the pressures of gift-giving, the stress of family gatherings, and the endless to-do lists. Yet, the essence of Advent calls us to pause and reflect on the source of our joy.
Join us Sunday as we explore Joy on a Starry Starry Night.
