Love on a Starry, Starry Night

The Fourth Sunday of Advent

Have you noticed the moon this week? Big and full, accompanied by the stars. Some of those stars are big and bright, while others only appear as tiny lights in the distance, barely visible. In a way, they serve as a reminder to all of us that we are the light. Some of us are burning brightly, while others are doing all they can just to put a little light out into the universe. And we can trust we will always find a way to bring light into the world because light has no end.

On this last Sunday of our Advent journey, let's look up to the skies and find the light of Christ. A light that may illuminate our paths, fill our hearts with hope, and compel us to share that light with others. In a world often overshadowed by darkness, we are called to be light-bearers, shining brightly with love and grace. Join us Sunday as we look to the light on a Starry, Starry Night.

A poignant blog post by Betty Brandt reflecting on a poem her father, James M. Buck, wrote to her in 1944 while stationed at Ft. McClellan, Alabama, during World War II. Betty shares her father’s love for poetry, his role as a unit scribe in Patton’s Army, and the heartfelt stories of camaraderie and survival among his fellow soldiers. Interweaving themes of love, storytelling, and faith, this post encourages readers to cherish and share their own family stories, creating connections filled with healing and sacred moments.
